BEST INDOOR PLANT ROUNDUP AND WHERE THEY BELONG IN YOUR HOME

Research shows that people with plants in their living space are overall happier. So today we are bringing the happy and sharing our favorite fool-proof house plants and where you should sprinkle them throughout your home. We luckily have a go-to plant nursery in our community (Homestead Gardens for any of you Annapolis natives), but for those who aren't in luck we also love to shop the plants on The Sill, an online plant delivery service with a rocking selection. They also include a user friendly plant guide so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

First up we have the Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree! They come little enough to fit on a side table to big enough to fill your cozy corner! They love medium sun (too much sun and you'll start to see little burn marks on the leaves) and constant moist soil.

Monstera aka "The Swiss Cheese Plant" is a great option for those with even the brownest of thumbs. It can adapt to many levels of sunlight (even artificial light but let's not get crazy with that). We like ours in our family room where it gets different levels of light through out the day. But also in our bedroom because its air purifying properties provide for a better night's sleep! *FUN FACT* The holes in the leaves form over time in order to create light for the lower leaves. Nature is wild, man.

Bird Nest Fern is a great option for low light small spaces like a powder room! They thrive on low light unlike a lot of other plants but make sure the soil is nice and moist at all times because she gets thirsty. We also love that it's kid and pet friendly!

You know the grandpa in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" who puts Windex on everything? Thats how I am with Aloe Vera. It's natures medicine for scrapes, dry patches, and burns. I keep mine in the kitchen where it can get some sun and allow the soil to dry between waterings.

Looking for a vacay friendly plant option? The Jade Plant is the one for you. It can go over a week without needing water and can adapt to lots of different lighting conditions. Also it's great for replanting and spreading through out your home. Simply clip back and plant in moist soil.

Snake Plant aka "Mother -In -Laws Tongue" (throwing shade to MIL everywhere) can survive almost anything and anywhere. It can handle the darkest of bedrooms to the brightest of sunrooms. It's surprisingly a succulent which means it does not have to be watered very often, maybe once every 10 days because you want to allow the soil to dry between waterings.

Pilea Plant aka the Coin Plant is probably one of the cutest plants ever. It's like a little explosion of happy leaves! It likes medium indirect sun and needs its soil to always be moist or else the leaves start looking all droopy and sad which we cannot have! If you take care of it correctly, you'll start to see another little sproutling in the soil. Once you can clearly see the beginning of the leaves you can repot that to start a whole new Pilea!
