Flower Arranging 101

Nothing livens up a space quite like a fresh bouquet of flowers! Whether it be a romantic floral burst of color or a low profile minimal bundle, flowers are a great addition to any space. But creating the perfect arrangement can be tricky. We like our floral arrangements to look natural and "perfectly imperfect".  We opt for a mix of neutrals and lush leafy greens but we always make sure to have a focal flower, in this case it was the lilies! They're large and act as an anchor for the rest of the florals and are extremely fragrant! As for vases, our one stop shop is always Le Fleur Farms!  Head to your local florist or get out your garden sheers and let's start arranging!

What You'll Need:

A bundle of flowers of your choosing

Large vase

Scotch tape

Scissors

  1. Trim your stems at an angle. Make sure they aren't too tall for your vase or they'll sag faster.
  2. Remove excess leaves on stems especially leaves that touch water. This will help the water stay clean and fresh longer resulting in longer lasting flowers.
  3. Fill vase with water.
  4.  Set trimmed and cleaned flowers aside and wipe excess water from rim of vase to begin basket weave on top of vase.
  5. Take pieces of tape long enough to go from one side of vase opening to the other. Apply several pieces length wise and continue this step to apply tape width wise creating a basket weave effect.
  6. Take your flower steams and poke them between the pieces of tape in the openings. The tape helps hold the flowers in place creating a fuller looking bouquet!
  7. Make sure to be rotating the vase as you go to assure that the flowers are evenly distributed.
  8. Lastly, set them in place and bask in the beauty you created!!
