Mother's Day Flowers
Happy Mother's Day to all you hard working Mommas out there! I woke up this morning to Lucky Charms with all marshmallows picked out, cold coffee and the sweetest little smiles on my three children's faces. They woke up extra early to surprise me with breakfast in bed and a box of chocolates, which they later informed me was on sale, buy one get one free. So I did not have to share! This holiday always comes with mixed feelings for me. Spring is always a chaotic season in our life and truth be told Mother's Day is no exception. My husband works tirelessly growing the beautiful flowers you all like buying for your Momma so much. If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen me stealing some blooms from the greenhouse to incorporate into my designs. In my opinion having a beautiful Home and a beautiful Garden just go hand in hand. So in honor of Mother's Day, I put together a Mothers Day Flower Guide with the Grower himself. Here are our top picks for Mother's Day Flowers.
At Home Teeth Whitening
Not too long ago Smile Brilliant reached out to me to try their teeth whitening system. I was hesitant at first because lets be honest, I'm no beauty blogger. But I am a working Mom who relies heavily on coffee, water and wine. The multiple cups of coffee in the morning combined with the glass (or two) of red at night was starting to leave their mark on my pearly whites. As an interior designer, I'm constantly consulting with clients and vendors, first impressions are huge in this industry. To be frank, interior designers are often judged on their outward appearance, its just the nature of our work. We not only put together beautiful spaces, but we have to look put together while doing it! So with nothing to lose besides my teeth stains, I figured what the heck lets do this! Shortly after I said yes Smile Brilliant sent me some goodies in the mail to get my tusks back up to snuff.
Designer Spring Decor Favorites
OK it may still be freezing outside but Spring is in the air. Which means Spring cleaning is officially done in my house! There's nothing like a fresh clean space to celebrate the new season. Once the cleaning is done it's time to layer in some Spring touches!!! Ever wonder how designers can make the same space look different each season??? The secret is all in the textiles. Adding a new throw pillow or textured rug can transform the whole vibe of your space! Here are some of my favorite new products on the market for Spring to add a little whimsy to your home. Which one is your favorite? XOXO Val
March Madness and Life Lately
This month was a doozy. I can't believe its almost been a month since I blogged last. But I promise it has been for good reason! I have so many new projects in the works that I haven't shared much about. So heres a little round up of my latest designs to keep you up to speed!
Legrand Lighting Solutions
Design is in the details. We've all heard the saying. One of my favorite design details is obviously lighting. Lighting has the power to instantly transform any space from mediocre to show stopping. Take my Jacqueline chandelier for example. There is a reason I post this angle every 9 squares on my Instagram. It stops you in your tracks, a detail that can't be missed. Most people consider this element of design when designing a space. But one element that unfortunately often goes unnoticed are the light switches that makes these beautiful fixtures work.
Rooms We Love Tour, A Glamorous Entrance
Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the Rooms We Love Tour. If you are coming from Lauren's blog over at House of Hire, you are in the right place here at Valerie Wheeler Interiors. Now my room is not an actual room per say, its more of an entry wall, that leads to the rest of our house. I almost didn't share this space because to be quite honest I didn't think it was anything special. I think as a blogger/creative, doubt can creep into our lives in more way than we care to admit. But one thing I never want to doubt is all of the hard work we put into our home. This little wall has seen it all, blue tiled floors, 1980's yellow beige paint, popcorn ceilings, you name it! But one thing that has remained constant since our time in this house is that mirrored table. She was the first piece of furniture I EVER BOUGHT FOR MYSELF! My taste has changed as our home has evolved, but this entry table is still one of my favorites.
Lovely Lace Details
Happy Valentines Day my loves! To celebrate all things love, I thought I'd mix up Trend Watch Wednesday this week and do a little fashion round up. Now its no secret that Im a big fan of lace in my wardrobe. Lace is the perfect look for date night, ladies night out or design meetings! Plus you can wear it year round, which is always a win in my book. I'm still brainstorming ways I can incorporate some more lace into my decor, but since doilies remind me of my Grandmas house, I'm just gonna stick to adding lace to my closet. Here are some of my favorite pieces for Valentines Day or really any other day you want to wear a more soft, romantic look! Some of my favorite places to shop for these looks are Anthropologie, Nordstrom and Tobi. Have a lovely day and as always thanks for reading! Your likes and kind comments really do mean the world to me. XOXO Val

Gifting A Unique Wooden Watch for Him this Valentine's Day
Looking for a little special something for your loved one this year? I for one like gifting something personalized and sentimental rather than just buying what is expected of the holiday at hand. But we often get so sidetracked by life that I put off gift buying until the last minute which makes it even harder to find that special gift. So when Jord Watch reached out to me to try one of their Men's wood watches for Valentine's Day you better believe I said yes! Now let me give you little background on why it is so hard to find that special something for my husband. The man likes to play in the dirt. He is rough around the edges and easy on the eyes. Since he usually only gets dressed up on the weekends when we go out, I knew I wanted to get him something that was slightly rustic and true to his style. I selected the Hyde walnut and black watch and added a personal engraving on the back face of the watch for a an extra special touch. The engraving is simple and sweet including the first initial of our names. I gave Tom the watch as an early gift this year and he loved it! Since life is a bit hectic running two businesses and raising three kids we decided to skip the night out and just enjoy a special brunch at home while the kids were at school. Sometimes all you need is a little alone time at home with that special someone to celebrate. To celebrate this Valentines Day with you, I'm teaming up with Jord Watches to giveaway a $100 gift card to one of my lucky readers! You can check out all of the other beautiful Mens Wood Watches here. Simply click the link at the end of this post to enter the giveaway with Jord Watch. I will announce the winner after the giveaway closes on February 18th. I know you'll find something you love for your special someone this year. If you need more Valentines Day inspiration check out my Valentines Day at Home Tour HERE. Have a lovely weekend. XOXO
A Valentines Day Brunch for Two
Welcome to our Valentines Day at Home Blog Tour. If your coming from Rachel's tour at The Porch Light Cottage your final stop today is right here at Valerie Wheeler Interiors. I'm so glad you made it all the way through the tour. I'm sure your mind is just flooded with all of the Valentines Day inspiration these awesome ladies have put together this year! Valentines Day can be so overwhelming sometimes, trying to pick the perfect gift, the perfect dress and of course the perfect spot for date night. Since my hubby and I NEVER get any alone time without the kids, I wanted to set up something special at home for just the two of us while the kids were at school. I went all out setting a fancy table, and buying our favorite treats. Of course the kids were feeling a little left out, so I promised them first dibs to this DIY Donut hole tower that I put together for the occasion. Now if you've been here before you know how much I love pink. I mixed in my favorite blush glassware with a little bit of gold and ranunculus to create this table scape. It really helped set the romantic mood. Without further ado, here is my sweet little Valentines Day Brunch for Two. I hope you find something inspiring to share with your loved ones this Valentines Day!
Blush Home Accents
Love is in the air. Well almost in the air. As I sit and plan my February calendar I can't help but get excited about all things pink. Next week Im joining a Valentines Day Brunch Blog Hop with some super talented ladies. I'm going all out setting the table for the occasion. But if your like me, leaving your table set isn't always practical. If I'm going to be completely honest, today was the first day I could actually see my table beneath all of my paperwork and kid paraphernalia. So if your looking for some other ways to sprinkle this perfectly pink hue into your home decor, here are some of my favorite blush home accents. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all enjoy the last weekend of January. I for one will not miss it.
Sundays at Home
Happy Sunday loves! This week zoomed by me, between client meetings, installs and the blog collaborations, I swear I blinked and it was over! I wanted to do a little informal post to update you on whats been going on behind the scenes here. Since I work from home, most days are usually spent in yoga pants in front of a very messy desk, sipping on cold coffee. My Nespresso machine has been life changing, its crazy how much quicker the caffeine hits me compared to a traditional coffee maker. You know what else has been life changing? Body suits. My gym sessions have been pretty non-existent this month so needless to say I've been feeling a little blehhhh. Now I'm not a huge fan of tight fitted tops, but these bodysuits from Tobi.com are my one exception. They suck me in all the right places, without completely cutting off all circulation. I've been living in them on the weekends. And to all my Mom friends out there, no more pulling your pants up over your pooch! Heres a little round up of my favorite finds this week. If you'd like to see more of my weekly favorites, drop me a line below and I'll throw together some more Sunday rounds ups like this one. Sometimes life is just too busy for me to go all out and get things photographed, but I still have so many fun snaps and random thoughts to share with you all! I hope you all have a great week. Thanks for reading xoxo.
Trend Watch Wednesday
Did you guys get a chance to check out my top picks for 2018 Design Trends? If not do not fret you can read all about that here. Really there are a lot of things in design I have been crushing on lately, so I decided it time to bring Trend Watch Wednesday back! Trend Watch Wednesday is something I started way back when my blog was just a baby. Its really just my place to share with you all my favorite pins, inspiration and trends that I think you need in your life. This week's trend watch caught my attention years ago when I saw this pink lady gracing the cover of my favorite shelter magazine. Feathers by Paule Marrot has been on my radar ever since. Now you all know I love a good pop of pink, but you know what I love even more? Vintage art prints. Nothing gets my design juices buzzing more than art work that looks as though its been ripped right out of a sketch book. And that is essentially what Paule Marrot's entire collection for Natural Curiosities is.
Top Design Trends of 2018
Well its official Pantone just announced 2018 colors of the year.... ULTRA VIOLET. Yup you heard me right. Violet. I'm really not sure how I feel about this one. I realize there are some die hard purple people out there but I'm just not one of them. But with each year brings new change and there are some really great changes happening right now in the design world that I'm excited to share with you. Just like with any industry there are ebbs and flows are to whats "hot" and whats not. While I'm a big believer in timeless spaces, I think you can still have fun with trends as long as you are layering them in ways that can be easily changeable. Would I suggest painting your whole house ULTRA VIOLET? No. But would I suggest grabbing a soft velvet throw pillow in this hue? Absolutely. So with that little disclaimer here are some of my top design trends for 2018. And do me a favor a pin the guide on the bottom if your loving these design trends as much as I am. One of my 2018 resolutions is to get my Pinterest account up to snuff and I'd appreciate any Pinterest love I can get:)
5 Blogging Tips for the New Year
Now that the Christmas rush is behind us, its time to regroup, reflect and make some kick ass New Years resolutions. This year is a little bit different for me when it comes to goal setting... where most of my resolutions in the past had more superficial goals in mind, this year I'm all business. At first glance you might think I'm all pretty in pink with my interiors and even my personal appearance, but beneath that carefully branded surface theres a bit more that meets the eyes. One of the biggest undertakings I took on as a new business owner was starting this blog. There was so much to learn behind the scenes and I'm still learning new things every day. Why am I telling your this? Because there is no better time to start your own blog than right now. Some people shy away from the whole blogging world because it just seems so saturated. While there may be a ton of successful bloggers already making their marks, think of how many readers are out there that you can reach. All the Instagram accounts, all the Pinterest Moms, all the brands that are constantly scouting for new influencers to work with. I can't even begin to describe how rewarding it is to see your work featured on other accounts (see my kitchen on Studio Mcgee HERE) or to be contacted by companies in your niche to try out their products (stay tuned for an exciting collaboration to come). At times it can seem so daunting but once your blogging foundation has been laid the sky really is the limit when it comes to growth. So if your ready to take the leap and start your blog, or grow your blog from a hobby to a business keep reading for my 5 Blogging Tips for the New Year.

Holiday Style
It's no secret that I have Christmas on the brain. The decorating may be finished but one thing I always seem to put off until the last minute is Christmas cards! I like to try out different looks each year for our family photos. These pictures are actually from 2 years ago, taken by my very talented friend Tracy Marshall. I had rented a sequin gown for a black tie wedding and decided to really get my bang for my buck and use the same dress for our family pictures. I was going for a little rustic glamour with sequins and rich reds. The kids were completely frozen and miserable but you would never know from the pictures! With Thanksgiving right around the corner its time to start planning our family pictures to make sure the cards actually come in time this year. I can't tell you how many years I wind up handing the cards out at our Christmas gatherings, because I waited too long to order them. By the time they actually arrive its too late to stick them in the mail! Does anyone else have this problem?! One of these days I'll stop procrasinating. But in the meantime I'm sharing my favorite picks to get you and your family camera ready. Sequins & Velvet are my go to's for a timeless yet elegant look. I mean what Mom doesn't want to shine on the Christmas cards? Be sure to check back next week for more of my favorite Cyber Week Sale picks! Thanks for reading.
