72 hours in Charleston

We did it! We got the heck out of town for a much needed change of scenery. We took the whole family  to beautiful Downtown Charleston for some sun, beach, gardens and all around a good time. This was our first time hitting this picturesque southern city and we will for sure be going back sans kids so we can experiences all the night life this Holy City has to offer. But while we were there, we did get to experience some beautiful scenery, sandy coastlines, yummy food and of course great shopping. Here are our must see spots in Downtown Charleston!First, let's talk about where we stayed. There are so many gorgeous hotels in Charleston, I personally had my heart set on staying at 86 Canon. But for ease of traveling with kids we opted for our own Airbnb. This one was spared no expense in the design details. The kids of course were smitten with the built in bunks, while I was more drawn to the luxurious bathrooms. I've never met a blue room that I didn't like and this room we slept in was LOVE at first sight. You know you had a good night's sleep when you order all the pillows on Amazon on the way back home.

Day One Agenda

The first beach we visited was Folly Beach.  I had planned a fishing day off the pier which was closed due to construction, so we spent the morning looking for shells, kicking up some sea foam and sipping on pickled margaritas. We wrapped up our beach trip after lunch and headed straight to King Street for some shopping. Here are our must see stores on King Street: Click the Store name to visit their online shop~Hampden ClothingBeau & RoCeladon HomeAmanda Lindroth

Day 2 Garden Tour at Middleton Place

I have to admit, visiting the gorgeous gardens right outside of Charleston was by far the best part of our trip. The formal gardens were straight out of a story book. There were swans canoodling in the pond, gators sun bathing, and the mossiest live oaks I have ever seen. We were torn on which plantation to visit, we ultimately settled on Middleton Place.Next time we go Magnolia Plantation and Cypress Gardens will be a must see! Magnolia Plantation is where some scenes were filmed for the Notebook.

Day 3 Agenda

We celebrated London's birthday with cupcakes from Sugar Bake Shop and then headed to Sullivans Island for lunch at Obstinate Daughter. Sullivans Island is a short drive from Charleston and might be the dreamiest beach we have ever seen this side of the Mason Dixon.
