Store bought holiday wreaths are CANCELED. We are only making fresh wreaths from here on out! Making this holiday wreath was such a fun and festive activity to do during the weekend and it was easier to make than you'd expect! We were able to repurpose extra clippings from our garland and tree plus some clippings from trees in the yard for this wreath. Like we mentioned in last weeks blog post, we recently got back from a weekend away for High Point Market! For those of you who do not know, Market is basically a mecca for all things home interiors. Vendors and designers from near and far all come together to shop and showcase their artistry and designs (but mainly shop). We go with the goal to pull some inspiration for future projects and to pick up some unique pieces for our clients. It is also a great place to network with fellow designers. Is it just us, or does it feel like this year is FLYING by?! It seems like in a blink, we will be in the throws of the holiday season (not that that's a bad thing, we live for the holidays over here). Just as quickly as time disappears, so do trends, and home interior trends are no exception! Today we're running through the home interior trends that we believe won't be joining us going into 2022!

We are always pulling inspiration from our fellow designers, and few designers spark inspiration like Amber Lewis. We love her organic, rustic eye and how she plays with textiles and textures. For a few seasons now, Anthropologie has teamed up with Amber Lewis and Amber Interiors to design an exclusive collection of furniture, decor and home goods. Today, we're sharing our top picks from the newest collection and what we have our eyes on to add to our shopping carts!

Flip through any home interior magazine or walk through your favorite home furnishing store and you will see all things wicker! Wicker placemats, wicker baskets, wicker chairs, we've even come across wicker detailed drinking glasses. Wicker is super on trend right now but in our humble opinion, it's a classic texture that will never go out of style (depending on how you use it). We love using books to style coffee tables, built-ins, ottomans, side tables,etc. You got a flat surface??We got a book for it! Not only are they great for adding height and dimension, they're a treat to look through for inspiration. Spring has officially sprung and if you need us, we'll be in our garden! But not all of us are lucky enough to have the space for a lush garden. Maybe your yard is too woodsy, or hilly, or you don't have the space or you may just be indoorsy! But not to worry, we have some tips for how you can still enjoy your home grown herbs and produce without stepping foot into the great outdoors. Keep in mind, you wont be able to grow your own watermelons and pumpkins, we're talking little berries, cherry tomatoes and herbs. But even gardening in your home is rewarding and a great way to unwind and relax!

We feel like we can finally exhale because our work at the "Cane I Get An Amen" house is finished! We finished this gorgeous bathroom literally days before lockdown began so as you can imagine, we have been dying to share the FINAL result with you. Luckily, we have the best client ever who was unbelievably patient and accommodating. Even COVID can't stop us from turning out beautiful spaces for our clients! We are so happy with how this space turned out and are excited to finally get to share it with you all.

We did it! We got the heck out of town for a much needed change of scenery. We took the whole family to beautiful Downtown Charleston for some sun, beach, gardens and all around a good time. This was our first time hitting this picturesque southern city and we will for sure be going back sans kids so we can experiences all the night life this Holy City has to offer. But while we were there, we did get to experience some beautiful scenery, sandy coastlines, yummy food and of course great shopping.Here are our must see spots in Downtown Charleston!

Before COVID, we were cranking out client installations left and right. But now that the world has slowed down, that goes for the design world as well. If any of you have tried ordering furniture in the last year or so, you'd know that it takes about a year or so to actually ship out. Same goes for us designers. Thankfully for us, our clients are the best and understand the hold up is out of our hands and that once products are available to us, we will give them the home of their dreams. But in the meantime, we just have to drool over our mood boards. So we thought it'd be fun to give you guys an inside look into a kitchen remodel we are working on currently and how it looks from a client perspective to work with us!

If you were to check out our saved tab on Instagram, you'd see a slew of amazing bunk bed designs that any kid or kid at heart would be jealous of. Bunk beds are a great space-saving solution in any home, and are perfect for hosting overnight guests and friends. Bunk beds used to be associated with a "kids room" that would be swiftly dismantled for the installation of a "big boy or girl room". But recently, designers have been changing the way we see bunk beds and (if done right) their timelessness. Check out our favorite designs that'll have you screaming "I CALL TOP BUNK"!!

Happy New Year!!! We have officially made it to 2021 and that is something we can all agree deserves to be celebrated. What are your New Year's resolutions? Maybe drink more water everyday? Possibly get ripped abs? Those are on our list (same as every year) but we are also making it a goal to make some major headway on our Kind-Of-Coastal-Cape-Cod. Welcome to part one of our #belairstyle home tour. We have been working with this family since the start of Valerie Wheeler Interiors and we must say it's bittersweet finally being able to share the project with the world! This home had some amazing bones when we were brought in. She just needed some fresh color, architectural touches and lots of styling to get her to where she is today. The details in the formal living room are hands down some of our favorite so we will be starting this two part home tour with the formal living room. The walls were given a fresh coat of our favorite shade of blue Parma Gray by Farrow & Ball. The fireplace got a bit of a facelift with a new marble surround. The lighting had a major overhaul and well lets just say the pictures captured by the lovely Mary Neuman speak for themself... Stay tuned for part two of the #belairstyle home tour coming soon!

In the spirit of being stuck at home, I thought it would be fitting to share with you all the design plans we have at our own home #thekindofcoastalcapecod. If you missed my last post about our home you can read all about it HERE. Again when life throws me stressful situations, I seek solace in design. Our home has been stuck in the fixer side of upper for the past 18 months. Lack of time has been our biggest culprit. With work, school and the never ending sports shuffle at a complete standstill we FINALLY have the time to focus on making this house feel more like home. We were planning to participate in this Spring's One Room Challenge, which has understandably been postponed. Since the design boards are already done, I wanted to share our Sunroom plans with you anyway. This look was inspired by Serena & Lily's newest outdoor line the Gardener collection. My heart skipped a beat when I opened the designer circle email and saw the image above. These are some strange times. I felt especially strange trying to come up with a title for this blog post. School has been cancelled for another 4 weeks here in MD. We have been posting a lot of teasers of this room on Instagram lately. Since this living room is still waiting for her big debut, we thought it would be fun to share the design process while we wait for the finishing pieces. This color palette has been showing up pretty frequently in our interiors and our closets lately. Soft blues, milky whites and lots of texture can be dressed up or down in for an effortlessly elegant look. Rattan has been huge in interior design lately and we are starting to see it trending in fashion too. We love sharing how fashion affects our interiors and the way we choose to dress our space. February might not be our favorite month around here... hello gray skies and winter. But all gray skies aside, we are here for all the flowers! Especially when February flowers come in the form of wallpaper. Now this look is nothing new to the design world, but there is a new way of adding a touch of chintz in a modern interior space. Here at VWI, we strive to create well curated designs, mixing dainty details with traditional touches that take our spaces from feeling frilly too sophisticated. In the Dining Space above, our client did not want seams to show, which is often a setback of using wallpaper. In order to get the chinoiserie look without using a wallpaper, we teamed up with a local artist to create a hand painted chinoiserie walls instead. Designers do more than pick pretty patterns, we are problem solvers too! (Take the full tour HERE). But all seams aside, we still love a good Chinoiserie wallpaper.
