Pillow Guide: How To Style Your Pillows

Ahh, the art of the pillow fluff... We like to think we have perfected it here at Valerie Wheeler Interiors. And with the Serena and Lily friends and family sale coming to a close, we thought it'd only be fair if we share our tips and tricks to perfectly styling your new pillows from the sale. Be sure to use the code BEOURGUEST to get 20% off all of our favorite fluffy finds!

First you're going to need to pick the sizing for your pillows, we personally like an oversized look! We start with our biggest pillow (between 22-24 inches) as an anchor in the back and level down as we move inward with our pillows.

PRO TIP: Don't be afraid to over stuff your pillows! Nothing worse than a limp and sorry pillow. We often use a size up our inserts an inch or two for that perfect plush look.

Now let's talk texture! We love to mix up patterns and texture. A good rule of thumb we like to stick to when mixing patterns is a large scale pattern, a small scale pattern and a solid or stripe to break things up. Don't shy away from mixing more organic, floral patterns with straight lines and geometrics. The end result will look more curated rather than collected. In a more traditional spaces  such as #caneigetanamen we kept things to  symmetrical to help enhance the focal point. But on a couch or sectional where the space is more spread out, we love to mix it up with sizes and prints. When is comes to chairs however, stick with one statement pillow, overfilling with pillows will make it seem uninviting.
