Do you smell that? That change in the air? That's the fall season coming in hot! (Even though we're so over the hot, we want chilly already!) And with fall comes all the cozy vibes. Our ideal cozy situation is being all snuggled up on the couch, with a hot tea in hand and some yummy candles burning. So we thought we'd share some of our favorite candles we like to burn in our homes. Research shows that people with plants in their living space are overall happier. So today we are bringing the happy and sharing our favorite fool-proof house plants and where you should sprinkle them throughout your home. We luckily have a go-to plant nursery in our community (Homestead Gardens for any of you Annapolis natives), but for those who aren't in luck we also love to shop the plants on The Sill, an online plant delivery service with a rocking selection. They also include a user friendly plant guide so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Summer break is officially coming to an end for you moms out there, and we're sure your kids are feeling it just as hard as you are. But don't you worry, we have come up with some tips and tricks as well as some must-haves to make getting back into the swing of things way easier on everyone (especially the mamas). Welcome to the Coastal Farmhouse! We are so excited to share this home with you. We started with what we like to call a "basic builder" home and worked closely with our client to customize paint colors, lighting, hardware, wall coverings and of course furnishings & decor. With a soft color palette of french blues and grays, we had some fun pulling in different patterns from our favorite textile lines to really give this home some life. It's hard to pick a favorite when a home is this beautiful, but the office that greets you when you first walk in the door is so just darn breathtaking. We might be posting photos of this room for the next year or two! The Coventry Gray built ins not only add function to the room, but gave us tons of styling opportunities to add some personality to the space!

It has been a while since we updated you on the progress of our personal home renovation. Like most small business owners we have been so busy working on serving our clients, that we have neglected to take care of ourselves. The time has come for the Mother of all sales; The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This isn't your everyday bargain basement sale, its unlike any other. While other sales mark down their current inventory in order to make the new seasons must have items, Nordstrom, every year, takes their incoming Fall inventory and marks it down up to 40%! Congratulations are in order to the Graduating Class of 2019! Commissioning week is basically a holiday here in Annapolis, and while there are several events held solely for students and families, there are tons of other events that the public can enjoy as well! Events like parades, concerts, and drill team performances are open for all. There is just something about the month of May that has us itching to get outside. The exterior of our new fixer upper is ranking high on the list of projects to tackle first. With a brick facade and an overgrown jungle for a yard, it's hard to envision the final design. So I pulled some of my favorite inspiration images to help paint a better picture. This is how we start most client projects as well. In a world of inspiration overload, finding that common thread is is key. Welcome to fresh new site of Valerie Wheeler Interiors! To celebrate our new look, we are kicking things off with one of our favorite project reveals! The Farm House Fit for a Queen. It has been one year since we started working on this gorgeous custom home nestled on a family farm in Joppa, MD. We were tasked with the job of making the space feel more polished with one of a kind touches that was still cohesive with the rest of the house. The dining room was beautiful with a fireplace and custom built ins, but lacked character (and chairs). We added millwork, designed a custom antique finished mirror and layered on the charm with a hand painted chinoiserie by Chris Vaught Studios. The furnishings were kept simple yet stately. No frills to distract from those walls! The chairs do make our hearts skip a beat with that lush velvet and clean lines. Really there are too many details to name, so we will just leave you with some pure eye candy to devour.
