Cane I Get an AMEN? Home Tour

There are few things we love more in life than a fresh home reveal! This tour might take the cake as the most coastal chic house we have designed to date. Our client initially reached out to Valerie Wheeler Interiors with a paint color crisis. Thank goodness the original  gray was a bit too purple or else we might not have met this adorable family of six. Our team swept in to help pick all new paint colors, lighting, hardware, furniture, window treatments and decor to bring this outdated 1980's colonial back to life. Our texture loving client was all about the woven details. From the consoles to the dining chairs, we layered in cane, rattan & jute with a touch of blue for a California cool meets East Coast elegance aesthetic. We hope you enjoy this home tour as much as we loved working with the lovely client!Since no major remodeling took place, we space planned around the original footprint of the house. The long narrow room behind the eat in kitchen left little space for storage or a formal seating arrangement. In order to make use of the room our client nicknamed "the Bowling Alley," we added a custom window seat with built ins to ground the space. Not only do the built ins hide those pesky wi-fi boxes, they gave us the perfect styling opportunity for all the decor we plan on selling in our Design Shop! A quartet of chambray swivel chairs have become the kids favorite spot to congregate. But really we think they just like to spin around and watch the television in the living room.Using our client's existing sectional we centered the living room's design around the fireplace.  For all my local readers YES! WE PAINTED THE BRICK FIREPLACE! There is no better way to freshen up a tired brick fireplace than painting it out white. Trust me you won't be disappointed. A few more textured pieces, like this pendant from Serena & Lily pulled in a bit of texture form the breakfast room. This living room  is proof that a few thoughtful touches can bring your old furniture back to life in a new space.Headed back down the hall to the front of the house, we sprinkled in a bit more blue with the most beautiful brass detailed mirror. The Turkish runner is just the icing on the cake, picking up the pop of pink from this quirky Artfully Walls print. When designing many rooms within a house it is so important to add just a touch of the same design element to each space to make the rest of the house flow. The whole house doesn't need to match per say but we always strive to make the spaces work in unison. As much as we loved designing the breakfast room,  the formal living room in this house gives us all the heart eyes! From the custom spindle chairs, to the rattan wrapped cocktail table and that statement mirror, well this room is just dripping in style. In order to let the pair of chairs have their moment in this space,  we kept the decor minimal. Just a touch of green to really make the rug sing. Rooms like this don't need a lot of commotion, we prefer to let the statement pieces do all the talking.Finishing off this home tour is the dining room, which is really the reason why we named this tour, Cane I Get An Amen?  Working with our client's existing wood dining table, we chose to pull in lots black touches to the space and of course cane chairs to create a modern warmth to the space.   This dining room is actually making a very special appearance in one of our favorite Home Magazines this month, so be sure to check back to see how we styled things for the Holidays!
