Living in a Smart Home

Hello sunshine. Thank the lord the sun has come out from behind those never ending rain clouds. It is amazing what a little sunshine can do for your spirit. Well being has been a big topic in the design world lately.  I for one am a firm believer that the environments we live in have the ability to elevate our moods. Or make your mood take a turn for the worse depending  on the room's current state  (ahem messy husband and kids). But living in an space that is is aesthetically pleasing is not the only happiness trigger. Your home has to work for you too. Ever heard the saying work smarter, not harder? Well the same holds true for design. There are so many products on the market that are all about making our lives at home a little bit easier... Like remotes that actually find themselves. Vacuum cleaners that vacuum on their own. And lights that can turn on and off when your not even in the room.

A few months ago, we made the switch to Legrand wireless lighting. It took some time to learn just what this wireless lifestyle was all about. But now that we are past that learning curve, I'm never going back to life before! If you don't remember my previous post about Legrand lighting solutions, you can check that out HERE.  I had all of the outlets and light switches in our kitchen replaced with the outlets from the adorn collection. They were so sleek and pretty that I decided to update the outlets and light switches in our powder room too! The sleek design and incredible convenience of being able to control your home from my smart phone has me signing Legrand's praises.

The pop out outlets in the bathroom are my favorite. I love that it's hidden in the wall and then POP out comes this little box of plugs. There's actually three little plugs around the box. No more rearranging so your can fit your hair dryer in the with your curling iron. Perfect for the high maintenance Mom who is frantically trying to get her hair curled while the kids get ready for school! I also love that when the plugs isn't it use,  all you see is this sleek white face, that blends in  perfectly with the wallpaper. Your room needs to look just as good while it's in use as it does in rest. And these wall outlets hid the chaos of cords beautifully.

Now I'm not going to lie, installation was a bit tricky. We are a DIY family and we did struggle trying to figure out how to install the new lights at first. So if you are not 100% confident doing electrical work, I recommend hiring a professional. Luckily, the technical support team at Legrand was very patient answering all of our questions to help us successfully install our new adorne wireless lighting system. It just took a few trial and errors with the switches, the other parts were a breeze to install on our own. The wireless system comes with a hub that communicates with all the wireless lights in your house. Once all the lights are installed, you simply download the app and give each switch a name. This part was so easy even my 5 year old could do it. The convenience of being able to turn a light off from your phone is just incredible. I can't tell you how many times I've found myself half asleep at night with the sudden realization that I forgot to turn the lights off downstairs. Then I remember all I need to do is whip out my iPhone, and stay in bed while my house does those pesky tasks for me. Life changing. If you haven't made the switch to a wireless system in your home, what are you waiting for? There are so many incredible smart home products on the market that can make your life easier and your homes prettier. I for one am hooked on living in a smart home.
